Staying Safe in the Summer Heat

3 July 2024

As the summer heat intensifies, it’s important to follow safety guidelines to protect ourselves, colleagues, and other fellow community members. The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) has launched the ‘Safety in Heat’ programme, supported by the Ministry of Labor, to manage heat stress.

To avoid heat stress or any of the serious health issues it can cause, such as heat stroke, exhaustion, cramps, and rashes, please keep in mind the below tips:

  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
  • Avoid Sugary Drinks: Reduce consumption of drinks with high sugar content.
  • Replenish Salt: Add a little extra salt to your food and drinks to replace the salt lost through sweating.
  • Get Adequate Rest: Ensure you get enough sleep and take regular breaks.
  • Report Health Issues: Inform your supervisor or line manager immediately if you feel unwell.
  • Always remember, safety comes first. By following these tips, you can help maintain your safety and that of the people around you.
