As we start a new year I wanted to pay tribute to the three brothers who worked tirelessly 50 years ago to establish and build Al Masaood. Right from the beginning their concern was always on how best they could serve their community, create jobs and improve the welfare of their families and the families of those who worked for them.
Every business they ventured into together made them want to explore how it might improve the population’s quality of life, Abu Dhabi’s future development and the aspirations of the next generation.
Over the years, Al Masaood’s name became naturally synonymous with benevolence and generosity. Those who have been with the Group for a long time will have seen this in practice, with countless people and families being supported.
As each day has passed this year, the pandemic has taken a much firmer grip on our society than we initially expected. But given our company’s heritage, the Al Masaood Board and ExCo knew what their top priority had to be. As an organization, we have always put our people first, so our primary goals had to be your safety and well-being, and protecting jobs for your families to thrive.
Some might argue that the pandemic showed us the flip side of life. I would argue that it has exposed us to the human elements of our everyday life and shown us that priorities other than profit and growth do exist and we can become even stronger together by being a family. Although we had a financially stable year, my greatest pride of 2020 is therefore knowing that together we stayed safe and looked out for each other.
And like we always say - at Al Masaood, we are family.
