The General Administration of Customs in Abu Dhabi has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al Masaood Group to enhance their cooperation concerning car imports and exports in Abu Dhabi.
HE Mubarak Matar Al Mansoori, Executive Director of Abu Dhabi Customs Operations Sector of Abu Dhabi Customs, and Mr. Ahmed Rahma Al Masaood, Vice Chairman of Al Masaood Group, signed the agreement during a formal ceremony held at the Abu Dhabi Customs headquarter in Masdar City.
HE Al Mansouri said: “Al Masaood Group is one of the major importers and exporters of car brands with excellent global reputation. We entered into an agreement with the Group in keeping with our ongoing initiatives to strengthen and build long-lasting relations with the private sector entities as directed by our wise leadership. Through the MoU, both parties are committed to utilizing available resources and capabilities and developing a general cooperation and collaboration framework that will help further smoothen vehicle import and export procedures in Abu Dhabi’s ports, namely Zayed Port and Khalifa Port.”
H.E. added: “The agreement includes several provisions to ensure coordination and cooperation between the Customs Affairs Division of Abu Dhabi Customs and the Freight and Clearance Department of Al Masaood Group. Our agreement will pave the way for more streamlined procedures for shipping and customs clearance, with an aim of expediting the payment of custom duties and clearance processes as well as other customs operations. In the future, a joint operations committee will be formed in the free zones in accordance with their storage standards and requirements and existing policies and legislations.”
For his part, Mr. Al Masaood said: “It is with great pride that we have entered into a partnership with Abu Dhabi Customs. At Al Masaood Group, we share in Abu Dhabi Customs’ efforts to organise and facilitate customs operations in Abu Dhabi and the UAE. The MoU will help lead to faster and more efficient import and export of vehicles thanks to the Abu Dhabi Government’s relentless support to investors and merchants. A more streamlined movement of goods in the country will further boost the UAE’s economic growth and development.”
